X-Factor Fun!

Shared by Rebecca U at 10:11 PM 4 comments
Now, its not like I make a hobby out of hanging out with celebrities but one weekend the hubs' dad was given some tickets to one of the x-factor shows (he knows people...) and so he, the hubs and I and two brothers-in-law, went along to one of the shows. I really enjoy the programme and it was so cool to be where it was filmed. I have been in the audience at a few shows and it just makes me want to work in media, it looks so fun!

We were on the VIP list so we were able to hang out with them all afterwards which was amazing. Bizarre  but pretty fun. My husband and his brothers have grown up with 'celebs' and meeting people like that all the time, because of Pete's work, but I was completely star struck to meet them all. I'm such a loser.

I also got to meet Neil Buchanan (off of Art Attack fame) as he was my father-in-law's former business partner and he got tickets on the same night as we did - that was so surreal as I used to watch Art Attack all the time when I was younger - "Try it yourself..."

Wagner - I think he is wearing a t-shirt of himself?!!

Another sporty Weekend...

The following weekend, we were lucky enough to get tickets to one of the ATP Tennis semi-finals at the O2 in London. Mike had entered a competition on-line, just for the heck of it, and lo and behold he won! Pro tennis is a first for both of us so were super excited to go!

It was Federer vs. Djocovic (sp?) and of course, Federer won!

Any one for Ruggers?!

We had such a great opportunity a few weeks ago to go and see an England Rugby game! I never been to a proper Rugby game, and Mike hadn't for ages so we were really excited when one of Mikes young men was able to get us some really good priced tickets. They were playing Samoa.

We shared the day with Mikes brothers Rob and Chris and the two Ryans from Maidstone, It was a great game and yes of course, we WON!

When the snowman brings the snow...

My 'lil sis' Milly..

The hubs and I...

The Urie / Leppard crew - they have been such good friends to us since we moved into the ward.
... England grounds to a halt!!

I woke up last Tuesday morning and found everywhere covered in snow, and it was still snowing. I wasn't due into work until 12, so I called ahead to check that things were still going ahead. I was told they were, so off I went to work. (driving VERY carefully so I didn't skid - you don't get much practice driving in snow here)!
After being at work for 2 hours, the powers that be, decided that it was still snowing and they wanted everyone to get home safely, so we should close up and go home. Fine by me....I thought...

9 hours later I got home! I was stuck in Leatherhead for about 4 hours trying to get on the M25, and then the rest of the time was spent stuck on the M25. Now I know why everyone class it a car park - it was utter chaos and most of the time I was just sat there with my engine off. Cars and lorries were just being abandoned in the middle of the road - it was like a scene out of 'The day after tomorrow'.

There next three days gave me plenty of chance to recover tough as work was closed until today (Monday). So, with some friends from church (and fellow Tadworthians) we went to enjoy the snow the best way we know how....

Re-Uni-on

I got a message from my former housemate and best friend at Uni, Laura, a few weeks back having a general catch up and seeing how things were. I was hoping to meet up with her when I visit back up to the mighty north at Christmas. She mentioned there were a few of the Uni crew that are still in the Leeds are that were going to have a 'reunion' on Saturday 4th December. I said I would look into trains and let her know if I got a good deal.

I was kind of looking half hearted into the train situation, as my luck previously has never been great with finding deals, but I got a return ticket to York for a really good price, so checked with the hubs and booked it I did!

I was really excited to meet up with some old friends, as I haven't seen them in person since my wedding! We talk on the phone and BBM, but it's not quite the same.

Snow came a few days before the planned trip so not all could make it - but my housemate Laura and Holly (my course, dissertation & netball buddy) were still able to meet up and we wet for a lovely Mexican meal in Leeds.
It was so great to see them and spend time with them catching up. I think it's a sign of a great friendship when you haven't seen each other for nearly 2 years, but you can chat away, just like you always have.... :)

Holly, Laura and I - Laura and I did everything together as we were course mates and housemates and people often thought we were sisters!
